Privacy Policy
What NeoCut does
NeoCut is a video editor that processes your videos to add captions, B-roll, music, motion graphics and other edits. To do this, your video is uploaded to our servers, transcribed and edited. The finished video is sent back to your device. This policy covers the NeoCut app and this website.
Who we are
NeoCut is operated by NEOCUT TECHNOLOGIES PRIVATE LIMITED, a company registered in India, with its registered office at C-804, Shri Balaji Residency, Ahinsa Khand-2, Shipra Sun City, Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh 201014, India (CIN U62099UP2026PTC243151). We are the controller of your personal data: we decide why and how it is processed. Questions, requests and complaints: support@neocut.app. Our Grievance Officer is Shreyansh Sharma, Director, reachable at the same email address or on +91 93112 23587.
Information we collect
- Account information you provide at sign-in (email address, and your name if you sign in with Google or Apple), and your date of birth to confirm you are old enough to use NeoCut.
- Videos you upload for processing in the app, and photos you choose from your gallery to place in a motion template. They are kept only as long as described under Data retention.
- Transcript text generated from your videos, used to drive captions, B-roll suggestions and motion graphics.
- Files we generate from your video: the finished export, preview versions, and subject masks (a silhouette used to let footage pass behind you).
- For motion templates: where people and faces appear in each frame of your video, which words you stress with your voice, and the plan our system makes for the graphics. This records positions only. We do not identify who anyone is.
- Words you type to search for stock clips or photos.
- If you use a referral code: the code, how it reached us (typed in, or on Android from the Google Play install referrer after you followed a referral link), and when it was linked to your account.
- Plan, remaining minutes, AI Credits balance, and purchase history (subscriptions and credit packs). We never see your card, UPI or bank details: those go to Apple or Google.
- Diagnostic information (app version, OS, error details) when something crashes. Crash reports carry an opaque account ID, never your email, transcripts or captions.
- Usage information in the app (which screens and features you use), linked to the same opaque account ID, so we can see what works and what to improve. You can turn this off in the app in Settings > Share usage analytics.
- A push notification token, if you turn notifications on. On Android it comes from Google Firebase Cloud Messaging, on iPhone from Apple’s push service.
- If you used the free template edit this website offered: a one-way hash of your email address (see below).
The free template edit this website offered
This website does not offer editing at the moment. When it did, each person could make one free template edit: one video of up to 60 seconds, in 720p. To keep it to one per person, we store a one-way, keyed hash of a normalised form of your email address (for example, ignoring letter case and “+tags”). It cannot be turned back into your email address, and we keep it after you delete your account so that the free edit cannot be claimed again. Videos made with the free edit carry a visible “Made with NeoCut” watermark, burned into the video, and we emailed you when your edit was ready.
How we use your information
- To process and edit your videos with the features you select.
- To run your account, including minutes, AI Credits and subscription billing.
- To tell you when your video is ready, if you turn notifications on.
- To improve reliability by diagnosing crashes and errors, and to improve the app.
- To prevent fraud and abuse, including repeat free trials.
- To run our affiliate programme: to credit the creator whose code or link you used.
- To communicate about your account when necessary.
Legal bases
- Contract: processing your videos, running your account, billing, and the notifications you ask for.
- Legal obligation: keeping tax and accounting records.
- Legitimate interests: security, crash diagnostics, and preventing fraud and abuse (including the one-way hash of your email used to prevent repeat free trials), affiliate attribution, counting visits to this website, and product analytics in the app (on by default; you can turn it off at any time in Settings > Share usage analytics).
Sharing
We do not sell your data, and we never use your videos or photos to train AI models, ours or anyone else’s. We use these providers strictly to operate the service:
- OpenAI: transcription, and planning B-roll, hooks and motion graphics from your transcript. For motion graphics it receives your transcript, word timings, which words you stress, and the on-screen positions of people and faces in the frame (coordinates only, never images), never your video or photos.
- Sarvam AI: speech-to-text for the 17 Indian languages, including Hinglish. Receives your audio.
- Supabase: account, plan and job records.
- Cloudflare: R2 storage for your uploaded and generated media, and Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts visits to this website (see Our website below).
- Hetzner: the servers that run all processing, including motion templates, located in Singapore.
- Pexels: stock clips and photos. Receives your search words, never your footage or your own photos. Thumbnails in the app’s B-roll picker load directly from Pexels, so Pexels also sees your device’s IP address.
- Resend: sending account emails. Receives your email address.
- Google Workspace: our email (support@neocut.app). Receives whatever you send us, including affiliate applications.
- Sentry: crash reporting, identified by an opaque account ID only.
- PostHog: product analytics in the app, identified by an opaque account ID only.
- Expo, Google Firebase Cloud Messaging (Android) and Apple Push Notification service (iPhone): delivering push notifications, if you enable them. Expo also delivers app updates, which tells it your device type and app version.
- Google Play and the Apple App Store: subscription billing and purchase verification, and sign-in if you use Sign in with Google or Sign in with Apple.
- Hostinger: hosts this website (see Our website below).
Each provider only receives what is needed to perform its function.
If you joined through a creator’s referral code or link, that creator can see that an account joined through them, the date, how the code reached us, and whether the account has become a paying one. They never see your name, email address, videos or photos.
Where your data goes
NeoCut is operated from India, and the servers that process your uploads are in Singapore. Some other providers are in the US and Europe, so your data crosses borders. Our providers in the United States include OpenAI, Pexels, Expo, Google, Sentry and PostHog. Neither India nor Singapore has an adequacy decision from the European Commission, so if you are in the EEA or UK your data is transferred outside your region. Where that happens we use Standard Contractual Clauses or other safeguards under Article 46 GDPR with our providers, together with their own transfer safeguards. We are still completing these agreements with some providers, including our server host and Sarvam AI; you can ask us which safeguard applies to any provider. You can request a copy from support@neocut.app.
Data retention
- Uploaded source video and working files: removed from our processing servers within about two hours of your export finishing.
- Finished exports, previews and cached B-roll: kept for 7 days, then deleted automatically, so your project stays openable during that window.
- Subject masks: kept for up to 30 days, then deleted automatically. If you delete your account, they are erased with it.
- Motion template working files (a copy of your video, its transcript, people and face positions, the photos you placed, and your motion exports): kept on our template server until 7 days after you last open that project, then deleted automatically.
- Transcripts and project history: deleted when you delete your account.
- Purchase and AI Credit records: kept after deletion for as long as tax law requires (up to 8 years), with your email and other identifiers removed.
- Referral attribution records: kept after deletion for our commission records, with your email and other identifiers removed.
- If you used the free template edit this website offered: a one-way hash of your email address, kept after deletion to prevent repeat free trials. It cannot be turned back into your email.
- When you delete your account, we keep a one-way, scrambled fingerprint of your email address (not the address itself) only for as long as we need it to prevent misuse of free minutes by deleting and re-creating accounts. It cannot be turned back into your email address.
- Affiliate applications: kept while we review them and, if you become an affiliate, for as long as you take part.
Your choices
- You can delete your account yourself, immediately, in the app from Settings > Delete account, or by emailing us; see Delete your account. It permanently removes your account, projects, transcripts and stored videos, and cannot be undone. Copies held on our motion template server are deleted automatically within 7 days.
- Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription. Cancel that in your App Store or Play Store account, or billing continues.
- You can turn notifications off at any time in the app in Settings > Notifications, or in your phone’s settings.
- You can turn product analytics off at any time in the app in Settings > Share usage analytics.
- You can revoke Google sign-in from your Google account settings.
Your rights
- Access: ask for a copy of your data.
- Correction: ask us to fix data that is wrong.
- Deletion: delete your account yourself in the app in Settings > Delete account, or ask us to.
- Restriction: ask us to limit how we use your data.
- Portability: ask for your data in a portable format.
- Objection: object to processing based on our legitimate interests.
- Withdrawing consent: where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time.
- Complaints: you can complain to your data protection authority.
- In India: you can nominate someone to exercise your rights if you die or become unable to, and you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
To exercise any of these rights, email support@neocut.app or our Grievance Officer, named above. We acknowledge every request or complaint within 24 hours and resolve it within 15 days.
Affiliate programme
If you apply to become a NeoCut affiliate, we collect your name, email address, channel link, audience size and message, and email them to our team so we can review your application. If you become an affiliate, we keep your display name, contact email and referral code, and the clicks, sign-ups, paying referrals and commission linked to your code. Your display name is shown to anyone who opens your referral link. We count clicks on referral links using a keyed hash of the visitor’s IP address and the date, which lets us count unique visitors per day without storing IP addresses. Before we pay commission, we will ask for the payment and tax details we need to pay you and to meet Indian tax law, such as your PAN and bank or UPI details. We keep commission and payout records for as long as tax law requires.
Our website
This website is hosted by Hostinger, which processes visitors’ IP addresses in its server logs. Our fonts are served from this website itself, so no font provider sees your visit. The site uses no cookies and no advertising trackers, and it stores nothing in your browser (the only exception is the site’s admin page, which only NeoCut staff use).
To know which pages are useful, we count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics. It sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device. For each page view it records the page, the site you came from, your browser and device type, your approximate country and how quickly the page loaded. Cloudflare says it does not fingerprint visitors, does not store your IP address for this, and does not use the data for advertising. We see only totals, never individual visitors.
If you open a creator’s referral link, the page shows you their code to enter in the app and counts the visit as described under Affiliate programme. Nothing about the visit is stored on your device.
Age
You must be at least 13 to use NeoCut, and we ask your date of birth at sign-up to check. Some countries set a higher age for agreeing to your own data being processed, up to 16 in parts of Europe. If you are under that age where you live, you need a parent’s permission. We do not knowingly collect data from children below these ages.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, we will update the date above and, where required, tell you in the app or by email.
